Import test cases

You can import test cases to TestMan in the following ways: - from Comma-Separated-Values (CSV) files - from Microsoft Excel files (via CSV)

The import wizard is easy to use and helps you map and import all of your test-case data as quickly as possible.

Note: - You can create many import test case templates, but can just use ones to map with a sheet in excel - All fields in template must match with rows in sheet of excel file

Prerequisites

  • There must be an existing project and Folder that has been created.
  • A folder of Project must be selected, If not the [Import] button will be in-active
  • You can also have an Excel document with prior test cases ready to be imported.
  • You need to have an already created Testcase Import Template (See Import & Export Template section)

Note:

  • Only test cases in Excel formats XLS and XLSX are supported
  • Just can import one sheet for each time
  • Special formatting is not supported (merged cells, formulas, etc.)

  1. Clicking on [Import] button above table list of test case

    • System display popup for quick guide import test case before you import test case. QuickGuideImportTC

  2. Clicking on [Next] button

    • A pop-up “Import test case” will appear with additional fields to fill out ImportTC

  3. Fill in the fields for importing test case

    • Select Map: Import test case template to add file
    • Select file for import: File that having test cases want to import test cases. you can drop file to attach or browser
    • Sheet Name: Exactly: Sheet of test case that you want to import. System will auto detect all sheets of you excel file you have just browser, you need to select one sheet.
    • Starting row number: The row that starting having data of test case
    • Ending row number: The row that you want to end adding test case. This is optional field, in case you not fill this fields, system will get all test cases in the selected sheet.

  4. Clicking on [Preview] to preview file that wanting to import

    There are 2 cases after clicking on this button

    • All value are mapped to uploaded file → A popup preview will appear with data is same to file that having uploaded sheet PreviewValid

    • Test case was imported has value invalid → System will warning in each invalid value. You can edit excel file then re-import. In case you continue import test case, system will not import test case that has invalid value. PreviewInValid

    Note:

    External Key is a required field & important for importing test cases to TestMan. In case your import test cases template has External Key not mapped with excel file, system will show wanring popup Untitled%208 You can back, edit your import test case template & excel file for mapping then re-import

  5. Clicking on [Import] button to finish importing test case

    • System will add new test cases that was imported and show message “import successfully!”
